Bucătărie Vegetariană Sănătoasă
Calendar: 10 Jan. – 07 Mar. 2021 (8 weeks)
Price: 1,150 € – more details
Let’s start with the end in mind: There is a need for well-trained plant-based cooks in many Adventist institutions. If this is where you would like to improve your skills or just to be introduced to culinary arts, please join us. As the Spirit of Prophecy says: “It takes thought and care to make good bread; but there is more religion in a loaf of good bread than many think.” We are not promising a certified vegan chef course, but rather a solid basic knowledge of the theory behind healthy cooking, with plenty of practice. During the eight weeks, you will practice in the school kitchen each morning, and in the afternoon, you will about nutrition, vegan cooking, how to do cooking demonstrations for the public. There is even a chance to lead out in a “Little Chef’s Academy” for elementary school level children. More details about the available classes, practical activities and projects are available below:

[accordion title=”Sermon On The Mount“]
Teacher: Gicu
Jesus started His ministry by declaring His mission in His famous “Sermon on the mount”. We want to identify with His mission and make it our own. Gicu Vasilache, our farmer, will guide us through, and together we will be to the deeper meaning of each “blessing”. Part of this class is memorization of the Be-Attidutes.[/accordion]
[accordion title=”The Book of Revelation“]
Teacher: Noel
The Book of Revelation reveals the work of Jesus in the final scenes of Earth’s history. The close of the Great Controversy is near. Christ is following a well-defined path in the Heavenly Sanctuary. You are expected to study in-depth, the symbols of the sanctuary and the prophecies, discovering the work now being done by the King of Kings.[/accordion]
[accordion title=”Student-Led Book Devotional“]
Coordinator: Eduard
Our school is not only about health, but also about God. Jesus said, ‘Without Me you can do nothing.’ Nothing with lasting impression is possible without Jesus, but He also inspired Paul to write, ‘I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.’ God’s love is so different than our human love. During our morning devotion class we want to give the opportunity to our students to lead the lesson by preparing a chapter and highlighting the main ideas, opening a discussion group and asking and answering questions. For this course we selected the book COUNSELS ON DIET AND FOODS.[/accordion]
[accordion title=”Student-Led Devotional“]
Coordinator: Eduard
This is another class where the students take active role. Just like in Sabbath school class, you will learn how to prepare and deliver a presentation, engage others and even create a though-provoking quiz. The Student-Led Devotional lesson further develops public speaking skills and give us a morning thought for the day that can inspire and elevate us in awareness of a great controversy we all are part of.[/accordion]
[accordion title=”Introduction to Nutrition“]
Teacher: Konrad
– Hey Jack! Did you know fibre is good for you?
– Hey Rachel! Yeah, so I hear, but what is fibre?
– Well, most fibres are indigestible carbohydrates.
– But I heard carbs are bad for us.
– Well, not all carbs are equal.
– What is a carb anyway?
Do you want to understand the answer to some of these questions from a scientific perspective? Then this course is for you. In this introductory course to nutrition we will go through the basic science and chemistry of nutrition to understand what the main nutrients are. You will learn about:
- Carbohydrates, Lipids, Proteins, Vitamins, Minerals, Phytochemical
- What the science says about vegetarian and vegan diets
- The link between diet/nutrients and certain diseases: heart disease, blood pressure, diabetes, etc.
If you’d like to understand nutrition on a deeper level and understand why certain dietary choices are better than others, I’d like to invite you to participate in this course; there will be a lot you can learn from it.[/accordion]

We read that “a close sympathy exists between the physical and the moral nature”. Also that “It is a sacred duty for those who cook to learn how to prepare healthful food. Many souls are lost as the result of poor cookery. It takes thought and care to make good bread; but there is more religion in a loaf of good bread than many think. There are few really good cooks. Young women think that it is menial to cook and do other kinds of housework, and for this reason many girls who marry and have the care of families have little idea of the duties devolving upon a wife and mother”. M.H 302.3 Cooking healthy can be a delight and can taste and look very appealing. Let’s learn together with our teachers and remember that what you cook, you will eat. [/accordion]

Throughout the 8 meetings of this cooking classes project, 16 children will have the opportunity to study the main food groups (grains, vegetables, fruits, healthy fats, proteins, dairy and vegetable alternatives), They will understand their benefits to our body (brain, muscles, blood, eyes, bones) and learn how to cook different simple and healthy recipes for each main food group. The menu includes oat biscuits, smoothies, vegetables salads, veggie burgers, patés, veggie puddings). At each meeting there will be an oral presentation and a practical workshop on the main topic of that particular meeting. During the cooking classes, the kids will prepare most of the recipes by themselves. (Pictures from past projects are available on the Little Chefs Academy Facebook page). At the end of the course each child will receive a diploma.[/accordion]
[accordion title=”Cooking Classes for Students“]
Coordinator: Eduard
Starting from 2017, Herghelia Mission School in partnership with Herghelia Lifestyle Center, Amicus Romania, SanoVita Company and the Life + Health Magazine began a cooking class project for students. The purpose of this project is for the students to understand the importance of a healthy lifestyle and its impact on health and academic outcomes. So far, the project has been run three times, with 25-30 attending a series of 5 or 6 meetings. In order to respond to the needs, five themes with the following titles were planned: Food for brain, Breakfast for students, Food for beauty, Energy boosters, and Party food. On the second and third occasions the participants were exposed to international cuisine from Romania, Czech, the Mediterranean, Asia, France, China, Germany, Kenya, India and America. The hour-long meetings usually began with a presentation on a chosen health topic including the latest scientific data about the theme. It was followed by demonstrations of the preparation of the dishes and ended with tastings. For more information check the promo video.[/accordion]
